Speaker Series: How Historic Preservation Fuels Our Local Economy

When a place or space has a rich history (take the Marshall Street Armory or Old Town), preserving its historical presence and architectural aesthetics has many diverse purposes and rewards.

Beyond fostering civic beauty and community pride, history encompasses all cultures, socioeconomic classes and activities that shape the background of the space that is being preserved. It also helps strengthen the local economy and stabilize of property values, and builds appreciation of local and national history.

But, enough of that.  Why not come to our Speaker Series next Wednesday to hear from a panel of experts on why historic preservation is important, and how it benefits the economy and our community?

The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with sign in at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, at the Lansing office of the Michigan Municipal League, located on the first floor of the Mutual Building at 208 N. Capital Ave. in Downtown Lansing

From 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., we'll hear from an expert panel on historic preservation. Q & A, networking and refreshments to follow.
