Security software firm Aegis Bleu grows marketing arm, moves to TIC

For large employers, often the first sign of a security weakness is when that security is unfortunately breached. Aegis Bleu, one of the newest tenants in the Technology and Innovation Center, hopes to change that fact in as many organizations as possible.

In 2005, Daniel Young was assisting the City of Lansing’s critical protection team, which located important buildings in the city and assessed them for security threats. When the group wasn’t satisfied with the tools available to assess and analyze physical threats, Young offered up a little something he’d been working on to do just that.

His software, Vulnerability Assessment Security Survey Tool, or VASST not only became the security tool of choice for the City of Lansing, but was the impetus for his company, Aegis Bleu to emerge.

“A facility, like a fortune 500 company or government agency hires us to find weaknesses in their facility and how to fix those problems,” says Young. “We also offer security consulting services.”

Those threats include natural disasters and manmade security threats, both internal and external. Young and his team of three developers have been working on VASST, as well as other security-based software tools since that time, and now are ready to grow Aegis Bleu with sales and marketing.

Young will hire three additional staff to manage the sales and marketing arm of Aegis Bleu at the TIC. His goal is to develop up to eight software tools to assist in security assessment and analysis.
