Lansing-based IDV Solutions software adopted by Microsoft

One of Lansing’s own information technology businesses has gained a very high-profile partner. IDV Solutions, a data visualization company located near South Pennsylvania Avenue and East Miller Road, has announced that Microsoft will be adopting its Visual Command Center software in more than 100 countries across the globe.

The move is significant, not only in the widespread use of the software, but also because IDV Solutions will be working side-by-side with Microsoft’s Global Security Team.

“We’ve been a Microsoft gold-certified partner for years,” says Scott Caulk, vice president of product management for IDV Solutions, “but we’re entering a new phase of that partnership. We’re going to be arm-in-arm with them in terms of doing briefings about how Microsoft is keeping its people and assets safe.”

The Microsoft Global Security Team conducted about 500 of these briefings last year, and expect to do about the same number this year. IDV Solutions will be there for each one, explaining to attendees how their software helps keep Microsoft secure.

“We help them visualize their risk,” says Caulk. “When the earthquake happened in Japan, immediately, Microsoft had to figure out who they had there and who is traveling there, and our software helped them figure that out within a few minutes.”

The endorsement from Microsoft, as well as the exposure to other potential clients during the briefings could spur significant growth for the company. IDV Solutions now employs a staff of 45. Caulk anticipates that number will grow in the upcoming years.
