Professional network Market Lansing to launch in 2012

Marketing Professionals in Lansing will soon have their own professional network to encourage career development, creativity and positive connections within the local industry. Market Lansing is the brainchild of a handful of local creative professionals including Rebecca Eldridge of Rizzi Designs and her husband David Eldridge.

“Back in 2010 David and I were going to the American Marketing Association meetings in West Michigan,” she says. “We were trying to get a chapter established in Lansing, but there were quite a bit of loopholes to jump through.

“So we decided to do our own thing.”

The Eldridges quickly found they weren’t alone in their desire for a marketing-specific professional network. A board was assembled with representatives from a variety of local organizations and businesses and Market Lansing was born.

“We have gotten a lot of feedback,” says Eldridge. “There are a lot of people out there who are sole proprietors who are doing things on their own and they can't afford, nor do they have the time to take more classes.”

Market Lansing is intended to be more than just networking opportunities. Their monthly meetings will host educational speakers, and job opportunities will be posted on their website. They also intend to organize The UnConference, a non-traditional conference that allows the attendees to be the speakers.

Market Lansing is now in the process of establishing their non-profit status and intends to kick off in the spring of 2012.

“It's been a long time coming, but we're excited about it,” says Eldridge.
