Locally-designed state job search website garners national praise

When Old Town’s CiesaDesign was asked to design a website to be the centerpiece of a special address by Governor Snyder, they knew it would be a significant project. They also knew they didn’t have a lot of time to get it done.

“It was a very aggressive timeline,” says Kate Tykocki, Vice President of Communications for CiesaDesign. “I think we had something like a week to name it.”

From name to launch, the firm had about one month to complete the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, a project by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget designed to attract and retain talent in Michigan.

What CiseaDesign did not anticipate out this special project was the national attention it would generate. Not only did news outlets from across the state cover the new site after the Governor’s address with positive reviews, but also such national media outlets as the Huffington Post and Bloomberg Businessweek featured it as well.

“The national attention is great considering the goal of this website,” says Tykocki. “Michigan had received some national accolades regarding job growth, and I think that Michigan is almost a buzz word when it comes to jobs and the economy.”

Talent Connect intends to turn that buzz into business by connecting the right talent to the right jobs in Michigan. Job seekers, employers and those seeking educational and career guidance can find resources to help them reach their goals on the website.
