Mt. Pleasant arts organization plans busy spring of programming

The Mt. Pleasant-based arts organization Art Reach of Mid Michigan has announced its exhibition and programming schedule for this spring season.

The With Her Eyes exhibition debuted at the Morey Family Gallery at Art Reach in downtown Mt. Pleasant this past Monday, March 4, and runs through Friday, March 29. The exhibit features the work of three Russian female artists.

An informational meeting for the organization’s annual Art Walk Central event is scheduled for Friday, March 22.

Spring Break Art Camp runs every day from March 25-30. The day camp is open to children aged six to 12 years old. The cost is $100 or $95 for Art Reach members and includes the cost of snacks and supplies. Pre-registration is required.

Also during that time period is the Illustration Exploration Camp, which runs from March 25-29. Geared toward older students, the day camp is available to teenagers aged 13 to 18 years old as they learn various illustration techniques and styles. The cost is $90 or $85 for members.

A Tropical Triptych Family Paint Party is scheduled for Saturday, March 30. Groups paint the three-paneled paintings amongst "vacation vibes" and more. The cost is $60 per group or $55 for members.

For those that entered this year’s Festival of Banners, finished banners must be submitted by April 5. The banners will be displayed from the street poles and walls of downtown Mt. Pleasant, Pickard Street in Union Township, the Village of Shepherd, and the Emergency Department at McLaren Central Michigan from May to late November 2019.

A Creative Crochet class will be held on Saturday, April 20, where students will learn how to utilize double-crochet techniques, resulting in a basket with handles. The cost is $30 or $25 for members.

A four-week course teaching the basics of linoleum block printing is scheduled for every Tuesday night from April 9-30. All supplies will be provided for the course, which costs $90 or $85 for members.
