Belly dancing, meditative drawing, and more: Arts organization announces new round of classes

The arts organization Art Reach of Mid Michigan has released its latest round of programming, providing plenty of opportunities for area residents to get hands-on experience in the arts.

Beginning Monday, June 24 is Summer Art Camp at Art Reach of Mid Michigan, a week-long day camp for children aged six through 12 years old. Registration is required for the art camp, which costs $100, or $95 for Art Reach members.

On Saturday, May 11, it’s Guided Meditative Drawing, an iteration of the monthly Art of Wellness series. The class, which costs $20, or $15 for members, is designed to "cultivate calmness and clarity through guided meditative drawing."

Beginning every Thursday from June 6 through June 20, it’s The Art of Journaling, students learn about art journals and techniques for creating them. The class is $50, or $45 for members.

Every Tuesday from May 21 through July 9 is the Beginning Colored Pencil Drawing class. The eight-week course teaches the basics of colored pencil drawing, costing $120, or $110 for members.

For something other than the visual arts, Art Reach of Mid Michigan is offering a Belly Dancing for Beginners class on Saturday, May 25. The $35 workshop, or $30 for members, teaches belly dancing basics to all who are willing and able.

Learn the Ukranian tradition of Batik eggs with the Batik Egg Workshop, scheduled for Saturday, June 15. The three-hour workshop has students transforming hollow duck eggs into floral ornaments, utilizing beeswax, aniline dyes, a kistka, and a candle. The course is $35, or $30 for members.
