Grand Traverse Resort to host top auto industry managers

Acme's Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is an epicenter of activity lately, what with a by-invitation 25th anniversary celebration of its Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, The Bear. Not to mention next week's Taste the Local Difference Celebration on Tuesday, June 29 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. It features a mouthwatering spread prepared by Joseph M. George, the new executive chef, as well as Eric Patterson and Jennifer Blakeslee of The Cook's House, Cammie Buehler and Andy Schudlich of Epicure Catering, Martha Ryan of Martha's Leelanau Table, Paul Olson of Mission Table, Michael Peterson of Siren Hall, Darren Hawley of Crystal Mountain, and Dave Denison of Amical.

Several local wineries and breweries and 20 other specialty-food artisans and farmers, including Oryana Natural Foods Market, Food for Thought, Brownwood Farms, 9 Bean Rows, Halpin's Land of Goshen, Grocer's Daughter's Chocolates, and Shetler Family Dairy will offer tastes, guests can purchase products; and there will be live entertainment by the Straightforward Bluegrass Band. Tickets are $15. Call 231-941-6584 or find out more here.

Come August 2-5, Grand Traverse is the venue for the largest annual automotive conference in Northwest Michigan. Top automotive leaders will converge for the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars. Find out all the details and how to register here.

Last but not least, the resort just hired Donald M. Ponniah as its new president and general manager. He was general manager of the Hilton North Los Angeles in Glendale, Calif.
