Two credit unions merge to form 4Front Credit Union

Two recently merged northern Michigan credit unions have a new name and will soon begin joint operations.

Bay Winds Federal Credit Union and Members Credit Union now will both be under the name of 4Front Credit Union, operating from Manistee to Petoskey. 4Front will begin operations in early 2015.

The merger creates a regional credit union with 13 branches and more than 76,000 members. The new partnership was approved by members in early October. The decision should mean better value, service and security for members of both credit unions, as well as a broader network for more convenience.

"Both institutions have long and storied histories in their respective communities," says Andrew Kempf, CEO and president of Members Credit Union. "It's not easy to let go of two names synonymous with member service and civic commitment. While our names may be changing, we still exist to put our members and communities first, at the forefront of everything we do."
