Center for Plastic Surgery has new name, partnership

An established Traverse City plastic surgery center is adding a new doctor, forming a new partnership and taking on a new name.

The Center for Plastic Surgery at Copper Ridge in Traverse City now will be called the Center for Plastic Surgery of Northern Michigan--appropriate, since among the changes is the extension of the center's services to Petoskey.

That's part of the new partnership, which is with McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. Doctors at the center now will be part of the McLaren health care team, and have surgical privileges in both Traverse City and Petoskey.

That includes new physician Kyle Ver Steeg, a plastic surgeon who will help meet patient growth and increased demand for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, according to the center.

Ver Steeg is board-certified in plastic surgery and general surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

"We're excited to be a part of the McLaren Northern Michigan surgical team," says Dr. Steven Thomas, plastic surgeon and practice partner. "It allows us to expand our offerings and makes it more convenient for our patients traveling from the tip-of-the-mitt, the Upper Peninsula and Ontario, Canada."

The center is co-owned by Thomas and Dr. Christopher Jeffries
