Think independent donuts. This isn't the stuff you get at the local gas station. Instead, they are bringing donuts that you typically only see on the Food Network, like orange juice donuts (not even kidding), and baked maple long johns (just ask for a Mackinaw Bacon Maple Long John for a true delight). And they are catering the tastes and the names to the region. There is no place else you're going to get a Benzie banana fritter, or a Kingsley Criss-Cross. How about a Sleeping Bear delight? An Acme Apple Pie slice? A Leelanau Bear Claw?
Oh, and it's pretty much the only place outside of the fair that you're going to snag an elephant ear (I know, right?).
If you're a fan of the donut (and who the heck isn't?), and you want one satisfying bite, then you probably should get serious about where you're picking up your tasty treats.
