Appia Communications marks 10th anniversary

Appia Communications announced it's marking its tenth anniversary this year--has it really been that long?

It has; the company opened up in Traverse City in 2001, and president Victor von Schlegell says its rise has been fast, but it's far from over yet.

The company, which provides managed communications and network services, serves more than 40,000 customers nationwide, and was founded by von Schlegell and current VP Bill Bollinger. It started out offering hosted voice-over-IP services, and expanded from there.

"Starting our second decade, we find ourselves serving the largest number of customers while fielding an industry-leading set of products tailor-made to our customer's voice, networking, cloud computing and managed service needs," says von Schlegell. "Our team, which includes our partners and customers, are the reason for our continued and profitable growth. We will continue to introduce new ways to bring value to our customers."

Appia has operations in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and Washington D.C., all overseen by their Traverse City headquarters.

Some of the products and services Appia offers are hosted VOIP, high-speed Internet, networking, and hosted video conferencing. Just this year, the company added virtual desktop and data center cloud services, and plans to keep adding services in response to customer needs.

Others have taken notice of the innovative tech solutions Appia offers, as well; the company has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., one of the fastest-growing technology solution providers, and one of the top managed service providers, as well as being named one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch in 2010.
