Traverse City Beach Bums have new general manager

From intern to director of the program you were interning with is impressive enough. That was Jeremy Crum's first step up with the Traverse City Beach Bums professional baseball team back in 2006.

He signed on in the team's inaugural season as a ticketing intern then, and by the end of 2006 he took over the role of director of ticketing.

A few short years later, and the team has not only grown, but so has Crum's career. Recently, he was promoted to general manager of the Beach Bums for their 2011 season.

After being the ticketing director, he moved up to take a spot as the director of sales and marketing in 2007. Then, Crum became the assistant general manager in 2008, alongside then-general manager Leslye Wuerfel.

Beach Bums managing member and chief operating officer John Wuerfel says Crum has risen through the ranks because of his exceptional dedication to the team. The family-owned enterprise is an independent team in the Frontier League.

"Jeremy has grown with us since our inception, working his way up from an intern in 2006," says John Wuerfel. "As a family owned and operated organization, Jeremy's promotion is indicative of the trust we have in him, trust he has earned through his hard work and dedication over the past five years."

Leslye Wuerfel will be concentrating on a more behind-the-scenes role now that Crum is the general manger; she'll continue on as the chief financial officer for the team's management.

Crum's enthusiasm for and commitment to the team are clear from his own words.

"I am excited for the opportunity the Wuerfels have given me," says Crum. "The Beach Bums mean a lot to me."
