Beulah office part of new paperless, wind-powered advertising firm based in Florida

For many Internet services businesses, it no longer matters where your business is located, as long as you have a good Internet connection. And Beulah resident Jonathan Maue is proving it, by launching a new website marketing company in cooperation with partner Rebekah Brown.

Brown is located in Winter Park, Florida, and the two do all of their communication through Skype, emails and other online methods. Both formerly worked as Detroit ad agency executives, and have 25 years of marketing experience between them.

They say they haven't seen each other in person since 2002, when they were co-workers at a Southfield ad agency. But that didn't matter when starting the new business together.

"We do everything digitally," says Maue. "We haven't sent a piece of paper between us. We work with clients on Skype conference calls and in-person from our two offices."

Their new enterprise is called The Marketing Square, and it builds websites, does search engine optimization, hosting, e-commerce, social media, video, TV commercials, public relations, advertising, strategic content, and even more services that help business and website owners increase their traffic and sales.

And they're forward-looking in more than one way: The Marketing Square is based on clean, green energy.

"Our server is powered by wind," says Maue. "Currently, three to four percent of electricity consumed worldwide is for data centers. So when we looked for a partner for our website and our clients' websites, we went with one that could provide clean energy."

So far, their Michigan clients include A. Papanos Pizza in Beulah, Camp Arcadia, Camp Grace Bentley, The Cherry Bowl Drive-In, Cherry Republic, The Corner Toy Store, Eco Building Products, FMH Housing, Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County, Rod Gentry Sauces, The River in Glen Arbor and Traverse City, Sunset Watersports and Table 5 Restaurant.
