2011 Administrative Professional of the Year is Charity Sawyer of Shoreline Fruit

Everyone knows how it works in their office: If you really want something done right and efficiently, don't ask the CEO, the VP of something, or even the up-and-coming new hire. You ask the secretary, or office manager, or executive assistant--also known as administrative professionals.

Those are the hard-working, information-gathering, on-the-ball folks that are honored each year during Administrative Professional's Week, April 25 to 29.

Locally, the Northern Michigan International Association of Administrative Professionals Chapter honors them too, with an annual luncheon and awards.

This year, Charity Sawyer of Shoreline Fruit was chosen as the 2011 Administrative Professional of the Year for her work as the executive assistant to the company's CEO, CFO and its Board of Directors. (That's got to be more than a full-time job, but that's another thing administrative professionals are good at; fitting it all in and making it look easy.)

"Charity exemplifies what an administrative professional is by her outstanding performance, excellent attitude and a willingness to make a positive impact on one's environment. She continually has outstanding communication skills and leads by example," reads part of her nomination.

Sawyer was chosen from nominations by a panel of judges, and received the award April 27, which included a well-deserved prize package, part of which was a spa day at Pavlova and a night's stay at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.

IAAP is the leading professional association for administrative professionals,a nd has chapters worldwide.
