Thinking about adding some holiday cheer to your home with some new lights?
Traverse City Light & Power wants to help you save money when you do.
Light & Power is providing another opportunity to its customers to save money and reduce electricity use in this month's bill insert. The insert provides a pair of high efficiency light emitting diode--known by most folks simply as LEDs--holiday light set coupons for $2 off that can be used for all varieties of LED light sets. The coupons are redeemable at Lowe's on N US-31 and ACE Hardware Co. on Front Street until December 31, 2010.
LED holiday lights, when compared to incandescent lights, use up to 90 percent less energy and last longer. LED bulbs produce little heat and remain cool to the touch. They also have no filament, so a single burned-out bulb will not darken an entire string of bulbs.
"Although LED lights may be a more costly option than purchasing incandescent holiday lights, the energy savings and longevity of the lights make them a worthy investment" says Jim Cooper, L&P's manger of communications and energy services.
Also in this month's bill insert, L&P customers will find information on $10 home energy analysis that can reduce electric bills, the Grand Vision's 2011 Regional Energy Expo, free 2011 energy savings calendars and the dates and location for recycling Christmas trees.
L&P customers can pick up additional LED holiday light coupons at the L&P billing desk in the GovernmentalCenter at 400 Boardman Ave., Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
