Second Annual Winter Microbrew and Music festival coming this weekend

The Old Town district in Traverse City will be hopping with live music and hopped up with some fine craft beer and local food when the Second Annual Traverse City Winter Microbrew & Music Festival this coming weekend.

The event will start with a party Friday, Feb. 11, and will feature the musical styling of Michigan's own My Dear Disco before a full-day of festivities begins early Saturday.

The event started last year with more than 2,500 attendees and instantly became known as a celebration of winter, Michigan microbrew beer and some stellar musical acts. This year, the heated tents will be set up in Old Town on Union Street, between Seventh and Eighth streets.

"(It is) a celebration of culture featuring craft beer, wine, mead and cider as well as music, arts, education, culinary cuisine and community nonprofits, local businesses and fun," says Sam Porter, owner of Porterhouse Productions.

Tickets for Friday and Saturday will be sold separately and can be found either at Blue Tractor and Oryana in Traverse City or online. Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door on Friday, and $25 advance and $30 at the door Saturday. Festival-goers must be 21 or older.

There will be more than 75 beers from both in Michigan and other states as well as local wines, meads and hard ciders and non-alcoholic drinks. Food will be available from several local kitchens.

Those more interested in the musical acts will be treated to Levi Britton, Andrew Sturtz, Steppin' In It, Soul Patch, Delilah DeWylde & the Lost Boys, among others.
