Iron Mountain gets new clothing store, B.E. Unique

Spring has brought a new clothing store to downtown Iron Mountain, with the opening of B.E. Unique.

The store opened April 15 and is owned by 21-year-old Brittany Linsmeyer, who says B.E. Unique's offerings include men's, women's and plus size clothing.

"We have a lot of independent designers, some eco-friendly brands, Ed Hardy designs, purses, jewelry," she says. "It's just the fashions you usually can't get in Iron Mountain."

Linsmeyer was born and raised in Iron Mountain, and says while opening the store was "kind of spur of the moment," it addresses a real need in the town for more stylish clothing.

"I just kept thinking, we should open a clothing store," she says. "There's nowhere for people to shop."

She previously had some experience in clothing retail, having helped to open the lingerie store Top Drawer Secrets in Iron Mountain.

"I was working as a bartender and knew I didn't want to do that forever, so I just kind of went for it," she says. "My whole family is full of entrepreneurs."

The store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It's closed on Mondays.
