All Goode Gifts more often lately, that's probably because the once-all-online herbal shop now has a retail location at owner Karen Mallinger's Negaunee home.
Mallinger is a certified natural health professional and a master herbalist who has run her business online for the last several years, selling bulk herbs, tinctures, teas, salves, skin care, soaps, spices, culinary mixes, herbal cleaning products and even herbal pet care products. All those are now available at 22 Krooks Rood in Negaunee, a mile past the Rod & Gun Club on North Road.
"Anything herbal is here and if it's not, I can get it. There are many things in the shop that are not available online," says Mallinger, who, as a master herbalist, can make just about any custom product you might be looking for as well.
"I grew up in Amish country and have been using herbs all my life. So many people would meet me at seminars or classes I taught and ask 'Do you have a shop?' I finally decided to open one after having a successful international online business for over 10 years," she says.
Her customers are those who want to focus on using natural products, avoiding chemicals and interested in wildcrafting, such as using the herbs in their own back yards. Mallinger also provides education and consultation.
"There used to be a local apothecary or herb shop in every community. My greatest joy is to empower people to make use of the plants growing around them on the road to health, wellness and beauty--the natural way. I love seeing the 'Ah ha' moment when someone tries an herbal alternative to a commercial product and discovers that it works as well or better and doesn't contain all the chemicals," she says.
All Goode Gifts' retail shop is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and of course, is still online anytime.
