Michigan Tech hits new benchmark for graduate placement

What's happening: Michigan Technological University has reached a new milestone of professional capability for its recent graduates. According to a new survey of 2024 Michigan Tech graduates, 94.6 percent of them were able to move onto advanced degrees, military service or meaningful employment in their field within six months of graduation. This is a new record for placement by the university, as Michigan Tech continues to grow in prestige regionally and nationally.
The survey followed guidelines from the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

Connecting students with employers: Michigan Tech’s Career Services office plays a key role in student success by organizing two of the nation’s largest career fairs each year — one in the fall and another in the spring. The events connect some of the biggest technology employers like Apple, Boston Scientific, General Motors, Lockheed Martin and Dow directly with the students before graduation.
The office also provides year-round support through workshops, resume reviews, and interview preparation.

What they're saying: "The Career Services office engages with students on day one of their journey here at Michigan Tech, and we prioritize meaningful employer partnerships," said Cody Kangas, executive director of Career Services. "We couldn't do what we do without support from our incredible faculty and alumni, who consistently come back to campus in large numbers to help the next generation of Huskies prepare for jobs."

What's next: MTU will continue efforts to connect graduates with employers and staying diligent to what fields need more workers to be successful. The next Career Fair will be held Tuesday, September 23, in the Student Development Complex.
