The
Moose Drop Inn in Michigamme is now open for business and is looking to help satiate that hunger building inside you.
The restaurant, formerly known as the Moose Café, serves up pizza, salad and subs, among other items--all made with fresh ingredients. Owners Kelly Ochadleus and Terry Kennemore said they wanted to keep the memory of the old café when they named their new restaurant.
"We wanted to honor the original building and owner of the Moose Café," says Ochadleus. "It had a good reputation for its food and atmosphere, and we wanted to play upon that."
Keeping true to the "moose" namesake, the restaurant's title derives from a historic moose relocation that took place in Michigamme Township in the 1980s.
The Moose Drop Inn has some specialties for folks to try, like their Chicken Pesto pizza--made with the secret recipe crafted by Marybeth Kurtz of the popular Midtown Bakery in Negaunee. Other signature pizzas include Chicken Cabanara and Cheese Steak pizza--served on a sourdough pizza crust.
The restaurant also has hand-dipped ice cream and some triple chocolate cheesecake for those with a sweet tooth.
The Moose Drop Inn is open Tuesday through Sunday with dine-in or carry-out options. The owners hope to have delivery in the near future.
