It can't be said about U.P. small business owners and entrepreneurs that they don't know when to take hold of a good opportunity.
Redline Sport & Marine on U.S. 2 in Norway is an example of such small business acumen, and the proof is in its recent expansion, when the owners, Jared and Kristen Gendron, opened up a second location in Spread Eagle, Wisconsin.
The new location is the former Spread Eagle Marine building, with a handy dock right on a local chain of lakes. Spread Eagle Marine closed in recent years.
The Spread Eagle location is also now offering fuel at its dock, a welcome sight to area boaters.
"We decided to expand our services to the Spread Eagle area to provide our quality repair service to that area since they lost that a few years back," says Kristen Gendron. "We also wanted to again provide lakeside gas services to the chain of lakes residents and users."
The Gendrons previously owned and operated A-1 Sport & Marine, so they have plenty of experience in the business. Redline is a new venture, opened in August of 2010. Along with marine repair, parts and accessories, they aim to be the only stop a boater has to make, stocking oils, spark plugs, skis, tubes, life jackets, and their own custom boating gear.
Both the Norway and Spread Eagle locations also offer repair services for ATVs, snowmobiles and small watercrafts.
"Over the past year Redline in Norway has begun selling Precision Discovery UTVs and Triton Trailers in addition to consignment sales; we also provide U-Haul services," says Gendron. "Redline focuses on providing quality service with the most qualified mechanics with the best customer service in the area all at reasonable prices."
