If you're feeling the need to dance but want to learn all the moves first, then you might want to consider checking out
Studio Dance Arts, which is slated to have an open house and registration May 28 and 29 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The new business is owned by local dance teacher Ashley Carlstrom and Richard Kim and is located at 2684 US 41 West.
Carlstrom trained for 16 years at the Sault Ste. Marie School as a competitive dancer in their company program. She studied classical ballet/pointe and went through the Royal Academy of Dance examination system. Other dance styles she trained in are jazz, lyrical, tap, hiphop and acro.
Kim is the founder and executive director of Studio Dance Arts. He attended the Juilliard School in New York City and is a former professional dancer, having worked with such celebrities as Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan and Reba McEntire. He is also a regional and national level competition judge throughout North America.
Studio Dance Arts Marquette will be offer a recreational program for boys and girls starting at the age of eighteen months through late teens. Classes in Mommy & Me, PreSchool, Kinder, ballet, jazz, tap, hiphop, and acro will be available for various ages and ability levels.
The facilities will have an on-site dancewear order service, viewing windows for parents, changing rooms, free Wi-Fi and online registration and payment capabilities.
