Here in the Upper Peninsula, we're used to waves. The sound of them breaking against the rocks of Gichigami -- the "big water" as translated from native Ojibwe -- now known as Lake Superior. The waves rise and fall on the Bay de Noc and lap against the Soo Canal and Straits of Mackinac.
Waves are nothing new to us. We're surrounded by them.
Yet, there's a new wave that has formed the likes of which no one has ever seen here. It doesn't lick at the shores of this wonderful peninsula, but rather washes across it, bringing with it the news about people, companies and innovations. It's the Upper Peninsula Second Wave.
We're a weekly online newspaper, dedicated to the stories of people and their projects, their businesses and their ideas that are driving the U.P. These people are your neighbors, your friends, your family members. The people who work, play and live in your communities. They are you. They are me. They are the Upper Peninsula.
We invite you to take a look over the publication and familiarize yourself with what we will offer for free on a weekly basis. The Growth and Investment News will feature growing companies, new business, construction, innovation and new jobs and jobs landed by locals. Our In the News section will share with you the moments the area has captured the attention of other media.
The U.P. Second Wave will publish every Wednesday. You can come check us out, or we can come to you with free email delivery of our always original and always locally written content.
We want to know your thoughts. We want to know who you think is innovative, driving and pushing the Upper Peninsula forward with new companies, inventions and ideas.
We want your comments and your questions as well as your critiques and your praise. To that end, I offer you a direct link to me, the managing editor of this new, forward-thinking publication. You can reach me directly with your thoughts or tips at sam@secondwavemedia.com.
Thank you for your time and for visiting the Upper Peninsula Second Wave. We look forward to being your source of news for growth, innovation, technology and inspiration.
