Island Resort rehabs Beachcomber restaurant

Visitors to the Island Resort & Casino in Harris will have something new and different on the menu this spring.

The Beachcomber Restaurant is currently closed for remodeling, according to the casino. When it reopens, it will do so under a new name, 5 Bridges Pub & Restaurant. (Our guess is it's inspired by the antique bridges that are part of the innovative course design at the resort's Sweetgrass Golf Club.)

"The 5 Bridges Pub & Restaurant will allow us to present a warm, relaxing atmosphere featuring handcrafted beers and exceptional wines while allowing our chefs to showcase their finesse in providing enjoyable meals ranging from casual to premium selections," says Leo Razmus, food and beverage assistant manager for the resort.

One main change diners will notice is a fully-enclosed dining area, addition of a private dining room, and extension of the bar.

The planned opening is at the end of May. In the meantime, guests can still eat at the Coral Reef Grille, the Firekeeper's Restaurant or the Island Sports Bar.
