Fancy yourself an artist? Want to see your artwork plastered all over Marquette and beyond? Well, then you're going to want to enter in the
Marquette Downtown Development Authority's 2011 Blueberry Festival Poster Contest.
The contest, which is open to all ages and skill levels, will award the winner $150 in gift certificates from downtown businesses as well as 10 poster prints of their artwork. The posters will be full-color, limited edition and sized at 10-inches by 13-inches.
Original artwork in any medium will be accepted, but it shouldn't be any larger than 11-inches by 17-inches and must not have been previously reproduced.
"The winning artwork will be used to create this year's official poster representing this popular community event," says Becky Salmon of the Marquette DDA. "It will become the 10th addition to the Downtown Development Authority's collection of limited edition Blueberry Festival posters."
The winning entry will be determined by an online vote open to the public. Voting will take place May 16 through June 1 at the DDA website. All entries will be displayed at Marquette City Hall, 300 West Baraga Ave., throughout that time period and will also be on exhibit at the Marquette Arts & Culture Center in July.
The winning poster will debut prior to the festival, which is scheduled for July 29.
The entry deadline is Friday, April 29.
Bring or mail entries to the Marquette Downtown Development Authority, 203 S. Front St., Suite 1-B, Marquette, MI, 49855.
