A local economic development voice is going to be heard at the state level soon, as the Michigan Economic Development Corporation appointed Marquette's Amy Clickner to a strategic council.
The
MEDC asked Clickner to serve on the Collaborative Development Council, which is a new board intended to provide strategic direction and input on programs to the decision-makers at MEDC as they focus on job creation in Michigan.
Clickner, the CEO of the
Lake Superior Community Partnership, will be one of 13 economic development leaders in the state on the council.
She says her appointment is a nod to the partnership's efforts over the past few years, but also will help collaboration between downstate and UP development officials.
"We are beginning to see the benefits of the work that the LSCP has done to establish relationships at the state and national level. I am looking forward to being a part of a collaborative effort across the state and working regionally with my colleagues across the Upper Peninsula," says Clickner.
The council's mission is to help advance economic development statewide by working on strengthening relationships between the MEDC and local partners, and improving communication and project management.
