Lois Ellis is always looking for ways to make herself more valuable to the Marquette region, and she did just that recently by earning a certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional from the
National Development Council.
Ellis, the vice president of economic development at the
Lake Superior Community Partnership, received the professional credential after successfully completing the NDC's economic development finance training series. The training provides individuals working in the field of economic development with instruction in business credit analysis, real estate financing, loan packaging, deal structuring and negotiating and the creation and implementation of development programs.
Each of the four certification program courses is five days in length and concludes with an exam. Upon successful completion of all four courses, the candidate is awarded certification.
Earlier this year, Ellis also earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer through the
International Economic Development Council. Ellis leads the economic development team at the Lake Superior Community Partnership and works primarily with regional business expansion, retention and attraction for the central Upper Peninsula.
