Sault Ste. Marie attorney attends exclusive conference for estate planning experts

A Sault Ste. Marie attorney is making sure she's on top of her game with recent training in estate planning.

Shelley White-Thomas, of the White-Thomas Law Firm, recently attended an educational conference in New Orleans, hosted by the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys.

Among the topics White-Thomas brushed up on at the conference were irrevocable trusts, new tax laws, and the latest best practices in ethics. The conference covers estate, tax and business planning laws, and also focused on new methods of communication like mobile phone and Internet devices, and the future of legal services in those venues.

"I make it a point to attend the Academy Summits because I recognize the value in continuing education and networking with like-minded attorneys," says White-Thomas. "Serving the needs of our clients has always been the primary aim of my firm. It's imperative to be knowledgeable about the latest planning techniques, especially with the recent Federal Estate Tax law changes. There are many strategies for planning and I want to know what legal strategies are being used by the leading estate planning attorneys in the country."

White-Thomas focuses on estate, legacy and elder law planning in her practice. The White-Thomas Law Firm as a whole has been devoted to estate planning in recent years.
