A local radio station is going to be taking part in the grand opening celebration for new studios at ESPN.
ESPN 970 radio, call letters WZAM, in Marquette, is one of the ESPN affiliates chosen to broadcast an episode of its local sports talk show, called The Sportspen, live from ESPN headquarters.
That's located in Bristol, Connecticut. The broadcast will take place June 1 as part of the celebration of new audio studios at
ESPN.
The Sportspen is hosted by Casey Ford and Bill Blohm and has been around since 2007, two years after the station became an ESPN affiliate. It was one of 16 stations across the U.S. to be selected for live broadcasting.
"We are very proud to represent the U.P. and the state of Michigan in this wonderful opportunity," says Tom Mogush, president and general manager of ESPN 970.
The other stations participating include representatives from New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
The live broadcast will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. June 1, and will be on ESPN 970, Q107 WMQT radio, Charter TV cable channel 19 and streamed on
ESPN970.com.
