Gail Anthony named state's 2011 Hotelier of the Year

Anyone who has met Gail Anthony, the general manager of Marquette's Country Inn & Suites, wouldn't be too surprised to hear she's been awarded the state's 2011 award for Hotelier of the Year.

Anthony's community ties and warm personality make everyone who walks through the hotel's doors feel right at home, and that's just part of the reason for the award.

The award came from the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association at its annual conference, and is given to the top owner or operator for the year out of the association's more than 500 member hotels.

The criteria for the award include hotel performance, guest satisfaction, employee relations and community involvement.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association with this prestigious award. I am sincerely grateful for the dedication and teamwork of our staff, support from our owners and the unwavering loyalty of our guests," says Anthony.

Anthony was cited in part for recent achievements she and the Country Inn & Suites have earned, like Hotel of the Year for the Carlson hotel chain in 2010, and the No. 1 Country Inn & Suites worldwide, as well as high guest evaluations, staff accomplishments, and overall performance at the hotel.
