Iron Mountain announces Streetscape Enhancement Grants for downtown businesses up to $500

The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority announced recently a 50/50 Streetscape Enhancement Grant which would match local business dollar for dollar, not to exceed $500, to support the purchase of trees, benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, flower planters and ash trays. The purpose is to offer a way for downtown businesses to increase the beautification of their property without having to foot the entirety of the bill themselves.

The grant is competitive, and businesses are encouraged to submit an application detailing the proposed improvements for DDA approval. Upon completion of the work, the DDA will reimburse the property or business owner 50-percent of the project cost up to $500.

"We hope the program will provide an economic incentive to support DDA businesses into enhancing the image of their individual business and the overall business district, making the area more attractive for shoppers and visitors," says DDA board member Bruce Orttenburger.

Eligible participants must own a building or property within the DDA district and must submit their applications to the Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority.

"We want to ensure that property owners have a vested interest in making our community a more attractive and economically vibrant place to do business," says DDA board member Nate Alwine. "We feel that this is a great way to partner with DDA businesses and encourage continued community investment."
