The annual list of Michigan up-and-coming companies to watch for success this year is out, and the U.P.'s
L'Anse Manufacturing is on it.
The "Michigan 50 Companies To Watch" awards are sponsored by the Edward Lowe Foundation, and will be presented April 28 in Lansing at a Michigan Celebrates Small Business event.
L'Anse Manufacturing goes by the motto, "If you can draw it, we can make it," and offers machining for all stages of product development, from prototyping to production. The company serves the medical, military, aviation and performance automotive industries, working with most metals and plastics.
Mark Massicotte is the president of L'Anse Manufacturing, and says the award is humbling and great news for the company--and, hopefully, will inspire investors to take another look at the U.P.
"Oftentimes we are so busy that we forget to take a step back and reflect on our accomplishments," Massicotte says. "The Michigan 50 award is a great opportunity to celebrate and recognize our employees, suppliers, customers and community. Their dedication, cooperation and professionalism are critical to our success. As this is a state-wide award, I hope others will be inspired to consider our region as a viable manufacturing source."
The qualifications for the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch includes having six to 99 full-time employees, generating from $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue, and to be in the second stage of business. Judges came from a range of fields, like baking, economic development and venture capital.
