It's always nice to land that first, big client, and that's exactly what
LeClaire GeoServices in Houghton just did with a service agreement with the Upper Peninsula Power Company.
LeClaire, which is part of the MTEC SmartZone, specializes in close-range photogrammetry in addition to traditional surveying. While showing off the product to an UPPCO representative, LeClaire Geoservices owner Steve LeClaire showcased a product they hadn't seen before.
"He displayed his three-dimensional modeling capabilities on his computer," says UPPCO Regional Account Executive Dan Crane. "I never associated that technology with surveying prior to his display."
LeClaire's services will be used for a variety of UPPCO needs, but will include surveys for easements, locating property lines, right-of-way verification, substation upgrades and more.
