Marquette General announces hiring of two new doctors

The Superior Health Partnership, consisting of Marquette General Health System and Bell Hospital, made a commitment when it formed to bulk up the number of specialist physicians available to U.P. patients.

They're far from the only new physicians the hospitals have added in the last 12 months, but the two most recent additions will certainly meet emerging needs for area residents.

Urologist Dr. Eric Todd has 18 years of experience, and began treating patients in Marquette this month, after joining Marquette General Urology as well as the staff of Superior Health Partners.

Todd most recently came from Jackson, Mich., and previously got both his undergraduate and medical degrees at University of Michigan. He is board-certified in urology and did a residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals.

Barb Couveau, practice manager for Marquette General Urology, in the Peninsula Medical Center, says Todd will provide a variety of services for male and female patients, including diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract problems and incontinence, as well as treating issues related to the male reproductive system, including tumors and infertility.

"Dr Todd is happy to be part of the U.P. and Marquette General team. He is eager to deliver comprehensive urological care to the residents of the U.P. and surrounding areas," says Couveau.

The second new face at Marquette General is Dr. Michael Papin, a psychiatrist treating adult patients, who is replacing a retiring physician. He has joined the staff of Marquette General Behavioral Health, part of Marquette General and Superior Health Partners.

"We have an unmet demand for psychiatry services across the U.P.," says Jim Devine, business manager for MGH Behavioral Health. "Dr. Papin helps maintain our current level of psychiatry need."

Papin has more than a decade of experience and most recently was in Milwaukee, working with the Psychiatric Crisis Service for Milwaukee County Mental Health.

He got his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and also did a residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. Papin is board certified in psychiatry and neurology, and provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management and treatment services for mental health disorders.
