Marquette General Hospital wins Cintas 2011 Wear the Care contest

It looks like the housekeeping and laundry department at Marquette General Hospital will be sporting some bright new uniforms soon thanks to their decision to enter a contest held by the Cintas Corporation.

The hospital's 85 individuals in the housekeeping and laundry departments were selected by Cintas Corporation out of more than 170 entries to receive a complimentary image apparel makeover worth $10,000. In addition, a $1,000 donation will be made on their behalf to the Marquette General Foundation.

"The housekeeping and laundry departments are very visible health care staff members," says Ellen Greer, Director of Housekeeping at MGHS. "Our outdated uniforms don't reflect the tremendous effort we put into our job of keeping the hospital clean. It's not a glamorous job, but it's a very important job and our uniforms should reflect that. Winning this contest has boosted morale and renews the pride of our staff."

In addition to the makeover and the donation, the team at Marquette General will receive an image consultation from Roberta Hughes, president of Avidere. The seminar is designed to inspire and educate staff on the importance of establishing and maintaining a professional image.

An independent judging panel selected the housekeeping and laundry department at MGHS for best demonstrating its need for an apparel program and detailing how the program would improve the satisfaction of hospital patients and visitors. The Wear the Care Contest, in its third year, recognizes the positive impact of a professional image on patient satisfaction.
