Sault Ste. Marie's Moloney's Alley making changes

If you're looking for a great burger and some Michigan-made brews and you're near Sault Ste. Marie, you should stop by and check out the changes being made at Moloney's Alley

Owner Kathy Books and her daughters, Amy, Ann and Abby, have been making changes to the menu and to the beer selection while making upgrades in their 18th year of owning the establishment, which is located at 227 West Portage.

One of the largest changes is to the beers that are available at Moloney's. The owners decided to focus on Michigan-made products, which have been booming in popularity over the past few years.

“With the evolution of the beer industry, Michigan is becoming the number one state in growth for micro-brewed beers," said Abby Baker. "Moloney’s Alley is proud to begin offering many new specialty micro-brewed beers in time for spring, including selections from Atwater’s of Detroit; Short’s of Bellaire; Keweenaw Brewing from Houghton; Cranker’s Brewery from Big Rapids; and Bell’s Brewery of Kalamazoo. Growlers will also be added to the menu sometime this summer, so you can take home your favorite Michigan brewed beers.”

That isn't the only change being made, either. The menu is getting a facelift, and the owners have focused primarily on the popular burgers. Some new selections include an avocado bacon burger, the hangover burger, the Michigan caramelized apple bacon burger and the olive burger. They also will be offering up a nice selection of steaks and whitefish preparations.

Moloney's is open from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. every day.
