River Valley Bank promotes two in Marquette area

Recent announcements from Marquette's River Valley State Bank have been nothing but positive, as two employees are making strides forward.

Jim Lahti is the company's regional banking director, and recently was awarded a diploma from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Graduate School of Banking.

While at the school, Lahti studied the management of various issues facing bank executives and financial industry professionals.

"Jim has been managing our Upper Michigan offices for two years," says Todd Nicklaus, chairman of River Valley Bank. "We believe in giving our management every opportunity to succeed and the Graduate School of Banking will only help Jim build on the skills that made us put our faith in him in the first place."

Another employee, Mike Mattila, has news of a promotion; he is now sales manager for the bank's northern Michigan mortgage division, covering Ironwood, Houghton, Calumet, Marquette and Iron Mountain.

Mattila will be responsible for market assessment and development in those areas.

"Mike is a success story," says Nicklaus. "He has worked in almost every area of the bank and has been promoted through the ranks because of his commitment to customer service. He's a true team player."

River Valley Bank has 16 locations in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, and offers banking, financial advisor, mortgage, loan, and insurance services to its customers.
