It looks like three Yoopers will be taking positions with the
Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority thanks to a recent appointment by Governor Rick Snyder.
Sault Ste. Marie's Linda Hoath and Scott Shackleton will join Marquette's Stu Bradley on the authority, as will Nick White, who hails from Petoskey.
Established in 2000, the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority is a joint organization between the U.S. and Canada. This board seeks to provide safe and efficient movement of people and goods across the international bridge between Sault Ste. Marie and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
"International trade is important to reviving Michigan's economy," Snyder says. "These individuals will continue to promote a healthy trade partnership between the U.S. and Canada."
Bradley is chairman and CEO of MI Upperhand, Inc., a regional economic development organization based in the Upper Peninsula. He served 26 years in the U. S. Air Force and was the Wing Commander of K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. Bradley served eight years on the Marquette City Commission and one term as mayor. He earned a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Southern Illinois University.
Hoath has been the executive director of the Sault Area Convention and Visitors Bureau since 2002. She is a member of the Michigan Association of Conventions and Visitors Bureau and was a past president. Hoath is the founding coordinator of Sault Events, Inc., which promotes jobs, stability and improvements to the Sault Ste. Marie community.
Shackleton is the general manager of Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course. He previously served as a state representative, is a member of the Chippewa County Board of Commissioners and previously served on the Sault Ste. Marie City Commission. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Lake Superior State University.
White is the owner of N.J. White Associates and has been practicing architecture for nearly 33 years. He previously served on the Emmet County Board of Commissioners, Petoskey Planning Commission and the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance. White earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Ohio Wesleyan University and a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati.
