The deadline to apply to be a part of the
Cloverland Electric Cooperative group participating in Michigan Electric Teen Days has been extended to April 13.
The electric company is looking for high school students, ages 16-17, to apply for participation in Michigan Electric Teen Days, which will be April 27-29. Those chosen to participate will join other Michigan co-op students for a three-day adventure at the Kettunen Center near Cadillac in the Lower Peninsula.
While on the trip, students will learn about co-op operations, career opportunities and electricity. Activities will also include a utility pole climb, visits to the TV 9&10 television news station, an energy control center and interactive safety and energy efficiency demonstrations.
Cloverland will select and sponsor up to five students for the event, including travel, meals and lodging.
"Each year, we look forward to sponsoring Teen Days and then selecting one student to represent Cloverland at the Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.," says Cory Wilson, Teen Days coordinator and Cloverland employee. "The program promotes leadership and teamwork while introducing them to the world of electric co-ops. Each student walks away with an experience to remember."
High school sophomores and juniors who will be 16 or 17 years old by June 2011, and with a home or cabin that is served by Cloverland Electric, are eligible to apply. Applications are available online. Cloverland.com
