Ishpeming credit union gets new name

The Ishpeming Community Federal Credit Union is getting a new name, one that better reflects its regional presence.

The credit union will now be TruNorth Federal Credit Union as of April 8. General manager George Isola says the name includes all five counties the financial institution serves.

"This name combines tradition and the future. TruNorth fits the credit union as Tru reminds our members of truth, trustworthiness, and confidence while North reflects the geographic area," Isola says.

The credit union has three locations in Marquette, Ishpeming and Republic, and is owned by more than 14,000 members in Marquette, Alger, Baraga, Dickinson and Iron counties.
