Second Annual U.P. Brew Fest coming to Marquette Sept. 11 with nearly 30 brewers with over 100 beers

The beer will be flowing when nearly 30 Michigan craft breweries gather at Mattson lower Harbor Park Sept. 11 for the Second Annual U.P. Fall Beer Festival.

The festival, presented by the Michigan Brewers' Guild, will run 1-6 p.m. with Guild Enthusiast members admitted an hour early at noon.

Local entertainment and food prepared by area restaurants will be on hand, as will some of the best craft beer in the state.

"Our goal is to introduce those who attend to Michigan beer," says Scott Graham, the director of the guild. "These are local brewers who produce some outstanding beers."

Local breweries that will be attending include Jasper Ridge, the Vierling, Herford and Hops, Lake Superior, Keweenaw, the Library and more. There are expected to be more than 100 different brews available for sampling.

Tickets for the event are $30 in advance online or member breweries or $35 at the gate, if any tickets remain available. Each ticket includes 15 drink tokens, each redeemable for a 3-ounce sample of beer. Additional tokens are available inside the festival grounds for 50 cents each. To gain entrance to the event, you must be 21 years or older.

Designated Drivers are encouraged to attend and their tickets will be available online and at the gate for $5. Designated Drivers are not permitted to drink beer.

Michigan Brewers Guild festivals are eco-friendly events, with cups, plates, silverware and napkins all made of biodegradable materials.
