UP Rehab adds jobs to meet community demand

U.P. Rehab Services opened its doors in 2005 with the intent of being the rehabilitation leader across the Upper Peninsula in physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapy.

Mission accomplished.

The company, headquartered in Marquette, now offers advanced rehabilitation services to 11 nursing centers, eight outpatient clinics and three hospital partnerships across eight U.P. counties. They have more than 80 therapists and rehab specialists.

And they are hardly done growing and advancing, either. U.P. Rehab added more than 30 local jobs in 2011 to help keep the region's economy flowing, including physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists and assistant therapists.

"We are always looking for staff as we continue to grown and expand across the Upper Peninsula, working with our community partners," says Janell Larson, the director of marketing for U.P. Rehab.

The growth is in more than just employees. The company added a pool lift to their aquatic therapy pool (which includes an underwater treadmill) and even launched a mobile app last year. What's more, the company integrated a new information technology platform to help them track all of their patients electronically, which can then be sent straight to the computers of physicians and other referring providers.
