10,000 Sq. Ft. Renovation Adds Flair to Lansing Wash. Square

Renovation of a 10,000 square foot building into nine residential lofts and four businesses in downtown Lansing is complete, thanks in part to a $15,000 façade improvement grant through the Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund’s Commercial Economic Development Fund.

The retail tenants at the freshly polished building at 329 through 337 S. Washington include a mix of familiar faces and new. The popular Café Mediteran, Subway sandwich shop, and Contemporary Shoe Repair stay put with a new look, while the Studio 109 salon made the jump to the fresh Washington Square locale in May.

All nine of the new residential lofts up top have already been leased. The units range from 710 to 1,150 square feet and are leasing for $890 to $1,250 a month.

“I am pleased to play a part in the continued growth and success of downtown Lansing,” says developer Scott Gillespie.  “The Lofts on Washington Square is a great addition to the many exciting developments throughout the downtown area.”

The building is located directly across from the Cooley Law School’s Brennan Library and across Kalamazoo Street from the CATA Bus Station. The façade improvement program was established with funding from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority through the Capital Region Community Foundation.
