Capital Area Humane Society to open new 2,670 sq ft clinic in South Lansing

CB Richard Ellis/Martin recently announced the Capital Area Humane Society has leased space at 5919 S. Cedar Street in Lansing for a new spay and neuter clinic. More than 6,000 animals are served by CAHS each year, and now the non-profit will be able to expand its capabilities even more.

The Capital Area Humane Society has been saving the lives of animals in the Lansing area since 1936, and local need for their services has grown ever since. The 2,670 square foot building will help CAHS continue to meet their mission in Lansing by providing pet owners with convenient access to affordable spay and neuter services.

"This clinic was built with one goal in mind: to end the tragedy of pet overpopulation in Mid-Michigan,” says Julia Palmer, CEO of Capital Area Humane Society. ” Last year, over 115,000 pets were put down in Michigan shelters. Spay/ neuter is the only solution, and we want to make it available to all pet owners."

Spay and neuter services are just one part of CAHS’s wide variety of programs and services. According to Palmer, 250,000 pets ended up in Michigan shelters last year.

They hope the new South Lansing clinic will allow them to expand the reach of their services and provide a simple solution to pet overpopulation.

The CAHS anticipates that the clinic will be open in early 2011.
