Chuck Brand was just looking for a new location for his 13-year Charlotte building company, Chuck Brand Builders, Inc, and he ended up with a whole lot more. After purchasing the former home of Bargain Hut on the corner of Shepherd and Merritt Streets, he received a recommendation to purchase a local rental company that was also for sale.
“I thought this would be a great addition to what I’m doing,” says Brand of his newly purchased business, Home Town Rental. “It will work as a good source for local people to come in get some construction tools and some expertise.”
After renovating the two buildings on the property totaling 6,400 square feet, Brand will move Chuck Brand Builders into one, and have room for another business to lease an approximately 800 square feet space in the second, with Home Town Rental in the third. Brand is currently looking for a tenant for the extra space.
Home Town Rental was formally known as Grand Rental Station, and will carry both construction and party rentals. Brand is currently in the process of updating some of the rental items available.
“We’re just trying to fill the needs of the consumer,” Brand says. “We’re trying to get some new equipment in here, and we’re getting some of the older things fixed up.”
