The Capital City Airport is adding a $4 million terminal, measuring 12,000 to 13,000 square feet, in anticipation of increased flight traffic.
The airport recently added direct flights to Ireland, which may ramp up commercial traffic. The federal government also designated the Capital City Airport a port of entry, which means corporations can ship international packages directly to Lansing instead of first sending the product to a larger city, such as Chicago.
“What this really does is open the global door for businesses and individuals in Mid-Michigan to start more easily marketing their products worldwide,” says Robert Selig, executive director of the Capital Region Airport Authority.
“New businesses will start up as a result of this,” he says.
