Jennifer Sweet, 23, just launched an Web-based events planning service.
Plenty of sites offer advice on how to plan a wedding, buy gifts for a corporate retreat or choose a venue for a family event, but Events Bloom CEO Jennifer Sweet couldn’t find a site that offered everything for everyone.
“I’ve worked for a lot of different companies and realized that there’s really no resource for people who are planning any kind of event, whether it’s a wedding or a
corporate event,” Sweet says.
Events Bloom clients can find area vendors, florists, limos, travel agents, and much more on her one site. Events Bloom also gives customers pricelists, e-mail addresses, budgeting tools, proposal ideas and other information that isn’t included in a typical vendor directory. Vendors also offer coupons and awards exclusively for Events Bloom users who want their services.
It took Sweet seven months to build her site. She covers the greater Lansing area, including Holt, DeWitt, Lansing, East Lansing, Charlotte, Okemos and Haslett.
“Eventually I plan on branching out to Jackson, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Grand Rapids and Detroit,” she says.
Right now Sweet is working out of her home, but she sees expansion in her future.
“Once the company grows, I’m sure I’ll have to expand as well,” she says.
Sweet is working with Michigan State University’s (MSU) Marketing Club to help promote her new product.
