New East Lansing Eco-Friendly Carpet Cleaning Company Expanding

Dry Green Carpet Cleaning is expanding from its current Lansing address into a 1,100 square foot space in East Lansing to keep up with its expanding customer base.

Dry Green Carpet Cleaning is an eco-friendly carpet company that was started by three college students and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity brothers. The company uses roughly 60 percent less water than other carpet cleaning companies and also uses an eco-friendly carpet cleaning solution.

One of the co-founders brought the idea to Michigan after working for a green carpet dry cleaning company in the Western United States.

“He came back and said, ‘This will really work in Michigan,’’ says co-owner Clinton Benard III. The three owners —  Benard, Michael Finney and Dylan Michlin — opened their Lansing location in June, but already need more space. They have residential clients, but they also have larger commercial clients including the Quality Inn Hotel in the Frandor Shopping Center.

“Business is really picking up,” Benard says. “We’re up 20 percent since we started.”

Benard, Finney, Michlin and a handful of other college students have been able to handle the workload, but Benard says they’ll need to hire new employees fairly soon.

“We hope to employ about 25 people before January,” he says.

They hope to move into their 4990 Northwind address by the end of the month.
