Eastside Lansing Neighborhood Finishing Up $52,735 in Façade Grants

The Allen Neighborhood Center in Lansing’s Eastside neighborhood is in the midst of awarding the last two façade grants to Eastside neighborhood businesses.

The Allen Neighborhood Center’s Kate Koskinen is still deciding who will get the final grants, but says once they’re distributed, the Eastside neighborhood will have $52,735 in aesthetic improvements for 2007.

Stober’s bar, the Green Door bar, Blimpie and Bake 'N Cakes on Kalamazoo Street all received new awnings as part of the façade improvement grants. The grants also paid for new steps for the Christ Lutheran church and a new parking lot for Robinson Memorial Church.

“The idea is that if we fix up buildings, the neighbors will fix theirs up,” Koskinen says.
